Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy Review

This product was sent to me for review but all opinions are my own and I was not paid to feature this product.

As you guys know I have a bit of a haircare addiction. I think I may love haircare more then makeup and that's saying a lot! So when the Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy landed on my doorstep I was seriously eager to try it out. Not only does it have one of the most impressive ingredients lists I've seen in a while but it's inclusion of grapefruit oil really appealed to me. My skin loves grapefruit and my skincare regime includes a lot of grapefruit based products, so I was hoping my hair would love it too.

The remedy is a mixture of grapefruit oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, almond oil and castor oil and it's these five oils that I am constantly hearing about in the haircare world. All 5 oils are known for their amazing nourishing and strengthening qualities so as you can imagine I had high expectations for this product.

I first used it as a light hair serum. I put the tiniest amount on my hand, rubbed it between my palms and then smoothed it onto my hair paying special attention to my ends and flyaway baby hairs. The oil worked a treat! My hair looked instantly smoother and shinier and the effect lasted all day. Even the next morning my hair was still quite smooth and I could see the difference the product had made.

Next I tried it as a hair mask. I applied a generous amount of oil all over my hair and massaged it in my scalp as suggested. I left it on for 2 hours whilst I watched my shows then washed it out with my usual shampoo and conditioner. Once my hair had dried it was smoother and looked well nourished, however it wasn't that big of a different to any other hair mask I have used. It did a good job but it wasn't exceptional and I won't lie, I expected to be more wowed.

About a week later I tried it again as an overnight treatment and it performed incredibly!!! I applied a generous amount of the product throughout my hair, massaged it into my scalp and applied an excessive amount to my ends because they could use the extra love. I braided my hair and carried on with my evening as per usual, had a nice long lay in the next morning and then washed it out.

I could see the difference even when I was still in the shower. The condition of my hair was gorgeous! Once dried it had a beautiful healthy shine to it and felt much more nourished then before. It was easier to dry and I used less of my usual products because my hair just didnt need them. My hair felt light and fresh and wasn't weighed down at all. You would never believe it had been drenched in oil all night.  I wear my hair straight but would also recommend this product for curly haired girls as before I dried my hair straight my wet curls looked great! They were very bouncy, had formed into nice ringlets and looked more alive then I'd seen them look in years!

The one thing about this product that really annoys me is the packaging. As cute as it is it's just so inconvenient. I'd much prefer a pump or a bottle with a far smaller opening as its easy to pour too much out. To get the small amount I used when I tested the product as a hair serum I placed the top of the bottle against my hand, turned the bottle upside down and then right side up again before lifting my hand. I then repeated this a few times until I got the desired amount I wanted. This was the only safe way I found to get a small amount of product. The packaging is cute though, very instagramable.

For those of you seeking an overnight treatment I'd highly recommend this. Yes it has its other uses but as an overnight treatment is where this product really excells. The oil retails for £17.99 and can be purchased from their website Alchemyoils.co.uk.

Until next time, J xx
