Mary Kay Skinvigorate Brush & Botanical Cleanser First Impression Review

- This product was sent to me for review -
Hi all! Today's post is a first impressions review of the Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush and Botanical Effects Cleanser. I've seen loads of cleansing brush blog posts floating around recently so when this baby landed on my desk I couldn't wait to give it a go!

Mary Kay is a brand that I grew up with. My best friends mum was a Mary Kay lady and still to this day has great skin and always looks fabulous! I have some great memories of sneaking into her makeup collection with my bestie and swatching the eyeshadows before we even knew what swatching was lol. Even now every time I visit I always spot a few Mary Kay skincare items in the bathroom so I instantly knew that at least one of these products was going to be a hit!

Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush Review
This brush is very easy to use, comes with 2 cleansing heads and battery's included. The two cleansing heads are different colours which is great if your other half (or even your sister or mum) wants to use one too as you can easily tell them apart. The bristles are very soft to the touch, so soft in fact that when I was unpacking them I automatically assumed they wouldn't do a great job of exfoliating my skin, but I was wrong!

The brush has 2 speeds and both do a great job of cleaning and lightly exfoliating the skin. Personally I prefer the faster speed but for sensitive skin the slow speed would probably be best. My skin felt soft and really smooth afterwards and I especially liked using this brush on my nose and T zone area. It easily and thoroughly cleaned the crevices of my nose getting rid of all oil and flaky skin. Overall I really like the product! I plan on continuing to use it on a regular basis :D

Mary Kay Botanical Effects Cleanser Review
I applied the cleanser all over my face and lightly rubbed it in before using the Skinvigorate Cleansing brush over the top. The cleanser is nice but it blended out really quickly meaning I couldn't quite tell which areas had been brushed and which hadn't. In all honesty it felt like a wash off moisturizer. It's hard to work with a product that disappears into your skin so quickly and I feel like a foaming cleanser would be a far better match for the Skinvigorate brush. Overall it was a bit underwhelming.

Overall Thoughts
The Skinvigorate Cleansing brush has completely won me over! I already know it'll be making regular appearances in my skincare regime and I'm now on the hunt for a foaming cleanser to perfectly complement it. The Botanical Effects Cleanser was nice but didn't do anything special for me. However it is really moisturizing so if you have dry skin and tend to lean towards moisturizing products this could be a good choice for you. I'm more of an oily girl myself though. The Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush retails for £35 and the Botanical Cleanser for £13. Both are available through the Mary Kay website.

Thanks for reading and I hope you found this review helpful :)

Until next time, J xx
