L'Oréal Smooth Sugars Glow Scrub & Pure Clay Detox Mask Review - Basic or Worth It?

You know the ones, they were everywhere when they first came out! Everyone was doing that thing where you use 3 different versions of the mask on different areas of your face and posting about it for ages.

My skin is the same type all over so I went for the Pure Clay Detox Mask, which I feel as an oily girl is the best one for me. I also went for the Smooth Sugars Glow Scrub because I love a good exfoliating skincare product and had to try it! Here are my thoughts on both...

Smooth Sugars Glow Scrub Review

Let's get straight to the point shall we, this is a really overrated product. I've actually finished the entire pot but have no desire to buy another at all. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it's basic and the most exciting time I had with it was the few times I didn't wash it off properly and the leftover residue made me all cute and glowy.

Once I did start washing it off properly I noticed there is nothing that makes this scrub different to anything else. But I want to say again, it's not that it's bad, it's just that it's basic. We have so much choice as skincare consumers these days that I just don't understand why you'd want to stick with basic, and if you do you can get something cheaper at least.

Overall this product just isn't for me. I only used it up because I popped it in my shower and started using it as my morning face wash. Now that it's gone I don't miss it at all and that says it all really. It smells nice though! Like sugar and honey, but I feel like you could easily make this at home.

Pure Clay Detox Mask Review

When I first tried this I wasn't impressed, but over time I've grown to really like it. I've used it about 7 times now and each time I'm a little more impressed. It does say to use it 2 to 3 times a week though so I'm guessing it's not meant to be a one time only thing and is designed to give it's best results when used regularly.

This mask claims to clarify and detoxify your skin and after multiple uses I agree with this statement. My skin just feels super clean and like the dirt from a day in London has been sucked out. During a quick google search I found the below claim on the Superdrug website and thought I'd give my opinion. These claims are in regards to what results you get from multiple uses;

Immediately: skin is purer and clearer.
Use for one week: skin feels fresher, and more luminous.
Use after use: skin can breathe and is visibly transformed.

I don't agree with the 'Immediately' claim at all to be honest because the first time I tried this I was all for giving it a bad review! It made very little difference to my skin and the oil was back half an hour later. 'Use for one week' I do agree with because it was after I used it more regularly that I noticed my skin looking all clean and fresh. 

'Use after use' I don't feel like I can comment on this too much yet because I haven't been using it for the longest time, but I can confirm my results have been better with each use. I spent the entire evening catching myself in the mirror last time I used this like ooo who's that fresh faced girl ay?! Big difference from the first time I used it.

I threw away the box and there are hardly any instructions on the jar so I genuinely have no idea how long you're meant to keep this on for. After application though it takes at least 30 minutes to properly dry out so I usually pop it on before watching a show or cleaning. Also it says you get 10 applications per jar but you definitely get more so that's a plus.

Overall I do like it! I think I'd buy it again but I'll probably try some other products first. It's not amazing enough for me to completely switch to just using this, but it's good enough for me to want to use it up and I'm excited to see how my skin looks after I've used the whole jar.
